My Journey

I'm Jonathan, and I've spent 40 years navigating systems that were supposed to help but often hurt more. Foster care, group homes, mental hospitals, 13 years in prison, addiction, and complex PTSD from childhood trauma.

But here's what they don't tell you - sometimes the darkest places teach you the most about light. Sometimes being broken down completely is the only way to build yourself back up authentically.

  • Childhood abuse and foster care system
  • Mental health struggles and hospitalization
  • 13 years in prison and what it really teaches
  • Addiction, recovery, and finding purpose
  • Breaking cycles and helping others heal
40 YEARS
OF TRUTH

Words of Hope & Healing

For everyone who feels broken, lost, or alone - these words are for you. Your story isn't over, and your pain has purpose.

You Are Enough

Right now, in this moment, exactly as you are - you are enough. Your worth isn't determined by your mistakes, your struggles, or what others have done to you. You matter simply because you exist.

"The most beautiful people I've known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths." - Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

Healing Is Possible

I know it doesn't feel like it sometimes. I know the pain feels permanent. But healing isn't just possible - it's inevitable when you're ready to receive it. Every breath you take is proof of your resilience.

"Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls your life."

Growth From Pain

Your trauma is not your identity, but it can be your superpower. The same sensitivity that made you vulnerable to pain makes you capable of extraordinary empathy and strength.

"The wound is the place where the Light enters you." - Rumi

You're Not Alone

Even when the whole world feels empty, you're not walking this path alone. There are people who understand your pain, who see your worth, and who believe in your future.

"Sometimes you need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything, or to do anything in particular, but just to let you feel that you are cared for and supported."

Your Story Matters

Every chapter of your story - even the painful ones - has meaning. Your experiences, your survival, your journey toward healing can light the way for others walking in darkness.

"Your story is the greatest legacy that you will leave to your friends. It's the longest-lasting legacy you will leave to your heirs." - Steve Jobs

Better Days Ahead

I promise you - and I don't make promises lightly - that if you keep going, if you keep fighting, there are better days waiting for you. Joy will find you again.

"This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass." - Unknown (but true)

Daily Affirmations for Your Soul

I am worthy of love and respect, especially from myself
My past does not define my future
I have survived 100% of my difficult days so far
I am learning to trust my own voice and judgment
Every day I grow stronger and more resilient
I deserve happiness, peace, and genuine connections
I am brave enough to face my fears and heal my wounds
My sensitivity is a gift, not a weakness
The only way out is through. And I know you have the strength to walk through anything because you're still here, reading this, fighting for yourself.
- From one survivor to another
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Take care of your mind with the same urgency you'd treat a broken bone.
- Mental Health Wisdom
Recovery isn't a destination - it's a daily choice to show up for yourself, even when you don't feel like it. Especially when you don't feel like it.
- Recovery Truth
You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved. Your struggles are preparing you for something greater.
- Purpose in Pain

Small Steps to Brighter Days

1
Start Where You Are
You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need to be perfect. Just start where you are, with what you have, right now.
2
Practice Self-Compassion
Talk to yourself the way you'd talk to a dear friend going through the same struggles. You deserve your own kindness.
3
Find Your People
Surround yourself with people who see your worth, even when you can't. Community heals what isolation breaks.
4
Celebrate Small Wins
Getting out of bed is an achievement. Taking a shower is success. Asking for help is courage. Honor your efforts.
5
Create Something
Art, music, writing, cooking, gardening - creating something brings meaning and helps process emotions in healthy ways.
6
Help Someone Else
When we lift others up, we lift ourselves. Your pain can become someone else's pathway to healing.
7
Practice Gratitude
Even in darkness, there's something to be grateful for - your breath, a warm cup of coffee, a text from a friend.
8
Keep Going
When you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, trust that it's there. Keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Remember This Always

You are not broken. You are not damaged goods. You are not too much or not enough. You are a human being deserving of love, respect, and happiness. Your story is still being written, and the best chapters are yet to come. Keep turning the pages.

"The phoenix must burn to emerge." - Janet Fitch
